Friday 9th August – Women’s Day run/walk 8/10km at 06h30

As has been tradition last few years we will have a Women’s Day 8/10km run/walk on Friday (public holiday). Wear something Pink!

Pat and Andy will provide post run refreshments in the BH room – please support them.

Sunday 11th August – OLD EDS 10/21km
This is a club catered race with gazebo/trailer and pre and post run refreshments.

The refreshments have been sponsored by Toni Hesp PhysiotherapyChantelle Pretto Physiotherapyand Wayne Readhead Bedfordview Medicine Physiotherapy.

We still need refreshment sponsors our next Club Catered race Wanderers 10/21km on 25th August. If you can help please contact Kim or myself.

The Coach will be running OLD EDS 10km with the “beginners” group, most of them doing their first ever race, and anybody is welcome to join our “bus” aiming to run at 8mins/km.

Winter warmers training program – August

This week is an easy week for all runners, as we prepare for the first race of the post Comrades season – OLD EDS 10/21km.

OLD EDS is a good opportunity to check your fitness levels and run the race at a good effort.

The Cape Town marathoners should all be doing this race as a test for their fitness with 5 weeks to the marathon.

Training this week will be only one quality session on Tuesday which will be our popular 4k out easy to the BP in van Burren and 4k back fast.

I am suggesting that all Schools rest on Thursday (or do a short easy run), and then support the Women’s Day run/walk on Friday, and take Saturday as a rest day.

This means you will be fresh and ready for a good race at OLD EDS.

TUE 06 AUG – Tempo – 4km out easy to BP in van Buuren via Riley and 4km back fast, finishing with a easy cool down jog around the oval.

WED 07 AUG – 10k recovery run – Captains choice

THU 08 AUG – Rest or easy short run

FRI  09 AUG – 06h30 – Women’s Day 8/10km run/walk – wear something Pink. Pat and Andy providing usual post run refreshments

SAT 10 AUG – Rest

SUN 11 AUG – 07h30 – OLD EDS 10/21km race. Please take note start time which has changed from previous years.
