Comrades 2019

Congratulations to all K-Way Jeppe runners for fantastic performances at Comrades 2019.

We had 136 finishers which is fantastic and we only had 5 runners who started the race that did not finish.

Thank you to all that supported the K-Way Jeppe Comrades runners, I had a great day out on Sunday and the results make me very proud! 

Green numbersCongratulations to Kim Pain for finishing her 30th Comrades – a fantastic achievement. Kim’s team of Dionella Cimato, Debbie Teixeira and Eamonn Mccann ran every step of the way with Kim. Great club sprit!Well done to Danny Mills, Anthony (Odie)Jeffrey and Mlungisi Khumalo for finishing Comrades number 10 – welcome to the green number club. 

The Jeppe men were led home by Justin Brink who ran a stunning time of 6h39m for his back to back medal.Clearly a man with talent to go far! One of our fastest times in recent years – great race Justin.Our other silver medallists were Karl Quinn in 7h08, Mistake Moffat in 7h15m, Themba Malgas in 7h18m, Dean Matteucci in 7h25 and Gary Smith in 7h25 – 6 silvers! Great running guys. 
The Jeppe ladies were led home by Gwen Muller in 8h43m closely followed by both Leanne Mackay in 8h48 and Leanne Grobler in 8h50.

Just missing Bill Rowans were Candice Humphrey in 9h07, Desiree Lester 9h09m (our first lady novice) and Jeanine Humphrey also 9h09m.What a team of fast ladies! Jeppe had 20 novice finishers – Ndodana Ndlovu 8h44m (first man) just ahead of Richie Payne 8h48m and Desiree Lester in 9h09m (first lady).

Another 29 runners got their Back to Back medals for consecutive Comrades finishers.Congratulations to all novices and back to back runners – you have achieved something special that you will remember forever!

20 Bill Rowans (sub 9hr) including 4 sub 8hrs and 3 ladies
33 Robert Mtshali’s (sub 10hrs)
31 Bronze (sub 11hrs)
46 Vic Claphams (sub 12hrs)
Good to see such a big group achieve the first Robert’s for sub 10hour runs.
I am so proud as our results are really one of the best “real club” results at Comrades!
